Why the local detail matters here
Eastern Idaho is genuinely different ground for septic. The Snake River Plain is basalt under a mantle of windblown volcanic loess, and how thick that mantle is decides almost everything about what a system costs. Where the soil runs deep, a conventional gravity drainfield works and is the cheapest option available. Where lava rock sits two to four feet down, the site has to be over-excavated and rebuilt with imported sand, or the design has to move to pressure distribution or a mound.
